Employee Invention Rights
In Germany, there is a special law, the Act on Employees’ Inventions, often referred to as the German Employee Invention Act (ArbEG). It regulates the relationship between employers and employees regarding inventions. The law standardizes the transfer of rights to an invention from the employee to the employer, as well as the requirements for the remuneration of inventions and the obligations that arise from their use within the scope of an employment relationship. The Act on Employees’ Inventions is complex. This also applies to the extensive calculation possibilities for potential remuneration claims.
